Panda Pediatrics is committed to providing your child with screening tests and disease prevention (including vaccinations) as recommended by the Bright Futures initiative of the American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP).
The AAP recommends regular vision assessment because small vision problems at a young age can cause big health issues later on, such as blindness and learning disabilities. Amblyopia is the #1 cause of childhood blindness. The most common type, refractive amblyopia, is near impossible to detect.
Our office performs photoscreening yearly from 1 to 4 years of age. We utilize GoCheck Kids which detects these debilitating vision problems.
After 4, we utilize the E Chart (Snellen Test) and perform this at 5, 6, 8, and 10 years of age.
