ANEMIA

Panda Pediatrics is committed to providing your child with screening tests and disease prevention (including vaccinations) as recommended by the Bright Futures initiative of the American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP).

The AAP recommends screenings for anemia and lead exposure at 12 months of age. Additionally it is recommended to two more times before the age of 17 years, based on certain risk factors. A verbal lead questionnaire may replace the blood lead test.  A child affected by anemia or lead exposure has an increased risk for mental and physical health problems over time. Without these screenings, these problems are subtle and almost impossible to catch.
